Rob Andriessen (1985) is a biologist with a MSc degree from Wageningen University, the Netherlands (2010). During his studies he specialized in entomological research. In his first MSc thesis, he studied the attractiveness of human skin bacteria to the malaria mosquito Anopheles gambiae (Wageningen 2008-2009). During his second thesis he studied the biting behavior, collection methods and cultivation of the malaria mosquitoes Anopheles aquasalis and Anopheles darlingi in Suriname, both in the capital Paramaribo and in an Indian village in the rainforest (2009). He finished his education with an internship at Protix Biosystems (2010), a company that develops alternatives to fishmeal  and other dietary supplements by converting organic waste streams with the use of insects.  Here Rob was involved in setting up a large scale insect colony. After his study he continued to work at Protix to further improve and enlarge this insect colony. He further expanded his entomological experience at the Central Veterinary Institute, where he was involved in field experiments on the collection of Culicoides (2011).
